RESEARCH CENTRES

The Franco-Australian Centre for International Research in Marketing

The Franco-Australian Centre for International Research in Marketing (FACIREM) is a joint initiative between the University of Adelaide and the University of La Reunion (France). Created in 1999, FACIREM aims to foster and facilitate research links between France and Australia in relation to Marketing. Under the leadership of its two founding co-directors, Prof. Jacques Aurifeille and Prof. Pascale Quester from the School of Commerce, the centre has produced 2 co-supervised doctorate candidates and many journal articles and conference papers. Australian members of the centre include Dr. Amal Karunaratna, Dr. Chris Medlin and Dr. Sally Rao, as well as Prof. Quester.

Seeding grants were obtained from the French Embassy in Canberra and equal funding is now provided by the two institutions. Co-supervision of doctoral theses, as well as publication of papers relating to a number of selected research themes, will be the focus of the research centre in its first three years of operation. The centre also funds one visit each year by one academic of FACIREM to the other partner institution.

Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting Research

The Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting Research (CSEAR) was established in 1991 as networking institution which gathers and disseminates information about the practice and theory of social and environmental accounting and reporting. CSEAR, based at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, provides a mechanism for academics and practitioners to make contact and support each other. It currently has over 300 members in over 30 countries, of which Prof. Lee Parker of the School of Commerce is a Founding Honorary Fellow.

The Centre publishes a biannual journal, Social and Environmental Accounting Journal (distributed free to members), maintains a specialist library of materials, provides a database of academics and practitioners around the world, undertakes research in its own right, organises research schools and conferences and welcomes visitors by arrangement.
