Parallel Sessions
These sessions will take two forms:
- Major Presentation sessions
- A Major Presentation session will be of 1.5 hours duration.
- Each paper will first be introduced, summarised and commented upon by a commentator. The paper author(s) will then have 10 minutes to respond to the commentator.
- The paper will then be subject to open discussion from the floor.
This format is designed to facilitate
- efficient presentation of the key features of papers by a scholar independent from the authors.
- critique in the context of representing the paper's main thrust
- opportunity for author's response to the critic (authors will receive critic's comments in advance of the conference)
- open forum discussion of relevant issues between authors, critic, and audience.
- Forum sessions
- A Forum session will be of 1 hour duration.
- Three authors will be given 10 minutes each to summarise their paper.
- The session chair will then chair open discussion from the floor for 30 minutes.
This format is designed to facilitate:
- inclusion of a greater number of authors and their papers in brief summary presentation style
- audience assuming the roles of questioner and commentator
- open forum discussion of relevant issues
Prereading Papers
Only full papers will be accepted into the conference refereeing process, and once accepted, they will be progressively added to the papers archive on this website - for both Major Presentation and Forum sessions.
The format of Major Presentation and Forum sessions is based on the presumption that conference registrants will have pre-read papers of interest to them.
It is crucial to the success of these sessions and the value to be obtained from them by all parties, that conference registrants do make the attempt to familiarise themselves with papers in advance of both the Major Presentation and Forum sessions.
