About the Host City
Adelaide at a Glance

Adelaide is the centre of arts in Australia, offering experiences to exhilarate and inspire with its unique blend of innovation, cultural activities and arts festivals that are the envy of the world.
With its vibrant, cosmopolitan population of one million, Adelaide relishes in an ambience and exceptional quality of life, with time to feast on a sensational menu of pure, fresh food and unsurpassed premium wines.

Getting to Adelaide
International flights arrive in Adelaide from all over the world, many of them flying directly to the city. Australia's two airlines (Qantas and Ansett) fly into Adelaide from every other capital city, although you may have to make a stopover if you're coming from Brisbane or Sydney - Adelaide is a long way from Australia's other capitals, so flying is often the best option.
The Adelaide Domestic and Adelaide International Airport are located just 5 kilometres west of the city centre. Both airports provide a city bus service, public car parking, valet car parking, taxi ranks, car rental, bureau de change and the International Airport also has duty free shopping.
- Taxis: A taxi journey from the Airport to the city will take 10-15 minutes and cost of order $10-$14. Taxi bays are located just outside both the international and domestic terminals.
- Airport Bus Service: A transit bus services the international and domestic terminals and provides transport at a fare of $6 (adult) or $10 return to a number of Adelaide city hotels and motels. The bus leaves at half hourly intervals. Timetables and fares are displayed at the bus stops at each terminal.
- Car Rentals: All major car rental companies (Avis, Budget, and Hertz) service the international and domestic terminals. Self drive and chauffeur driven car hire services are available by prior arrangement.
