The Business School Mentor Program for First Year Students (semester 2 program)

The School of Commerce (now Business School) ran a pilot Mentor Program for first year students in semester 2 of 2007 and we are pleased the program will continue in 2008.

For continuing students (Mentors)

Participants in the mentor program will have the opportunity to network with other students, attend social events (yes, free food!) and access career advice.

You should have:

            • the ability to demonstrate an understanding of the Business School and its' programs
            • excellent people skills with the ability to empathise and provide guidance to first year students
            • evidence of participation in extra-curricular activities
            • evidence of at least a pass average in your academic program within the Business School
            • an ability to maintain confidentiality
            • an ability to participate in a multi-cultural program.

Mentors will be made a $250 payment in recognition of the importance of the program and the time and effort they will be required to contribute. This payment will be made in 2 instalments. The 2nd instalment will be paid on completion of the program (and a feedback report) at the end of 2008.

If you are interested in becoming a Mentor, please contact Nicole Rizzo <nicole.rizzo@adelaide.edu.au> (Student Support Co-ordinator)
