Prepare, Prepare, Prepare
Preparing a timetable plan for semesters 1 and 2 will save you lots of time. The easiest way to do this is to download and print the Class Planner (copies also available from the Commerce Front Office) so that you can schedule your studies. Firstly, note your lecture details as these times aren't going to change. Then note a couple of suitable tute details for each course. This process will ensure you are prepared before you log onto Access Adelaide to enrol.

Online Step by step instructions

First In Basis
You are encouraged to enrol as early as possible to secure your preferred classes as enrolments are on a first in basis.

Frequently asked questions

There are more FAQ's on the enrol web site.

What course should I enrol in?

Use your Commerce Handbook as a guide to what courses you need to enrol into. If you would like your enrolment checked please present a copy of your enrolment to the Postgraduate Resource Centre. Your enrolment will be checked within two weeks. Your enrolment will be reviewed and you will be notified via email advising:
  • if any changes are needed, or
  • confirmation of your enrolment being processed.

All students
Check that you satisfy the assumed knowledge and pre-requisites for any courses you plan to take. We will be running checks and students who don't have required pre-requisites will be withdrawn. Prerequisites and Assumed knowledge are noted in the Class Planner and are listed in the Commerce Handbook.

What elective can I study?

You can enrol in any course as an elective. Providing you undertake all required core courses for your program, you may choose to take electives from the following areas: Commerce, Economics, Design Studies, Humanities and Social Sciences, Science, Mathematical and Computer Sciences, or Wine Marketing.

To scan what is available you can view the Course Planner (search by subject area) or the Postgraduate Calendar. Please consider the level of the elective and any required pre-requistes or assumed knowledge when making your choice.

How do I receive credit for courses completed at another tertiary institute?

Students may obtain advanced standing for courses completed at the University of Adelaide or within a degree of another tertiary institution accepted by the Faculty of Professions for the purpose of being equivalent. Advanced Standing/Course substitution may be granted to a maximum of 12 units. Courses for which advanced standing is sought should have been completed within the last 5 years (or 10 years if the student has been employed in the area of study).

Students with a bachelor degree from an overseas institution will be required to undertake the relevant foundation courses along with the required number of specialisation courses in their desired discipline stream. Course substitution may be granted to students that have completed bachelor courses accepted by the Faculty of Professions as equivalent to the courses required as part of their degree. Advanced standing can be granted for students that fall under relevant offshore arrangements as well as to students that completed courses within a Masters program at an overseas institution.

An application for advanced standing/course substitution, on the grounds of work completed at another tertiary institution, will be considered only if accompanied by a certified copy of the student’s complete academic record (original or certified copy), copies of the syllabus, assessment and textbook details of the relevant courses and details of the structure of the degree program previously studied. "Application For Advance Standing" forms are available from, and should be lodged with, the Postgraduate Resource Centre.

Do I enrol into a tute or a lecture?

When enrolling in Commerce courses you will be enrolling into a tute that will automatically place you into the associated lecture. There is an exception. Where there is a repeat lecture stream the above is not automatic. You will need to select the lecture class number after entering the tute class number.

Can I swap my tute time?

You can only swap tutorials up until the end of the second week of each semester and this must be done by you on-line. Swapping tutes means that you should first check there is space in the tute you have elected to swap to, then you should immediately drop yourself from the tute you are in (this will completely delete your enrolment in this course) and immediately add yourself into the new tute. If possible, have a few tutes that you are able to swap into.

Where do I find class numbers?

The Class Planner allows you to search all courses that are scheduled in 2006, view all of the classes for each course and to plan your timetable BEFORE you enrol. You can search and view class details for courses one by one or you can add courses to a cart and build up a list of all classes for your courses. You can also print this information if you wish.
